Going to Washington, DC on vacation?
Would anyone recommend renting a car if staying in Silver Springs, Arlington or suburb areas?
How is marking at the monuments or traffic?
I have driven in London, and Paris and it wasn't that bad. Any suggestions?
I'd use the METRO…that's what I do when I go there. You can always rent a car for just one day if you want to see things outside of the heart of the major DC area. But the METRO is the way to go…throw in a taxi here or there. Because, remember, you need to PARK that car someplace…and places are scarce and costly.

What hotels or apartments in Paris and Rome can you suggest for our honeymoon vacation?
We are planning our honeymoon vacation in Paris and Rome. We’d be staying in Paris for 6D/5N and 4D/3N in Rome. Please tell us which hotels are good to stay in for newlyweds. Paris is a bit expensive and our budget is only about US$ 100 - 150/night. For Rome, maybe you can suggest something cheaper like US$ 80-110/night.
Also, do you have idea how much is a round-tripp train fare from Paris to Rome? How can we save on train fares?
Suggestions are greatly appreciated especially those based from own experience (or if you’re a travel agent).
If you have their website, please include in your answer. Thanks!
Search here for cheap hotels
http://www.jetsetgotravels.com
It provides search option like near a landmark etc
But beware … cheap hotels can be trouble some times so check reviews of the hotel you are going to book.
Check the exact location of hotel from google maps.

I am a U.S. citizen with a U.S. passport. I'll be going to London in 1 month. How and where do I get a visa?
I assume it's at the airport upon arrival, but I'm not sure. Could anyone help me? I'm just vacationing, but I'll also be going to Paris, Edinburgh, and the Republic of Ireland. My whole vacation will be 1 month long.
You do not need a visa.
You will get an immigration card on the plane to fill in and hand to immigration control with your passport on arrival.
Welcome and have a great holiday!

Controlling Mother in Law?
My husband's mother is controlling. My husband is her only child and when he joined the Army 2 years ago when he came home from training she wanted my husband spend about 2 or 3 days with her only and we had been married less than 8 months (he didn't). For 7 of those 8 he was in training. Things didn't get any better when our son was born in March. She came to my house (she's in Dallas. TX we are in KS) 2 days after he was born and she came inside and took him out of my arms without asking! She did that for the week she stayed. My husband tells her to back off a lot but with no success. Now that he is deploying, I am going home for Christmas and will be staying with my parents. My relatives haven't met my son and all of my hubby's have. I am goign to Alabama with my mom so my relatives can see Connor and his mom wants me to go to two family Christmases 1 in Houston, TX & 1 in Paris, TX, right after I get back. I said I'd be in Paris, but she's planning my vacation for me! Help
Both my husband, her husband, and I try to get her to back off and she does sometimes. I want to be able to spend my vacation the way I want to. I love his family and I would never deny them time with their grandson, but I don't feel like spending 90% of my vacation making her happy. My mom and dad and my sibilings don't get to see me or my son as often as my husband's parents do. I'm all for close family, but that woman needs to give up the whole control thing.
My husband is no mama's boy and he will take my side over her's. That has never been an issue.
So, you'll be living in Paris. Well, then. Let her plan away….
Spend your Christmas with your family and invite them to come over the holiday if they like. Let Mother in Law know that you don't mind bringing Baby for a visit once a month..(whatever, you decide) and let her know she is always welcome to come to Paris to see the child. That's all.
You may consider offering to bring the baby for Christmas Eve this year as it is his first Christmas and her son is deployed. I suppose it would be the right thing to do.
When you speak with family members speak with respect. Respond to what they have to say. Do not react. Take a breath, think of what you want to say, and say it calmly and respectfully, as if you were speaking with a friend. Respond, don't react. This teaches respect.
Teach family members where your boundaries are. Do ask husband for input …. he wants Mom to know his son, too…. Try to make fair decisions, but you make the decision, don't let them start making you dance. Refer to paragraph above. If conversations get heated, just say, "I can't talk about this right now." and walk away. As long as you are being fair and Grandma gets time with Baby, then that's the end of conversation. The grandbaby is your child, not a replacement for her son.
So, you have to teach them. Teachers are calm, gentle, and firm in their resolve. Be the Teacher.

Where would u go 2 for a dream vacation?
Is it hawaii paris italy mexico japan new york london or other?
This is an easy one. Vietnam is the new place to go. The country is absolutely beautiful. With miles of white sand beaches, cool mountain hideaways, Great city night life and cozy country inns. It’s very inexpensive. You can get nice hotel rooms for $10 and beer is 15 cents a glass. The people are wonderful. I have traveled just about everywhere and I ended up buying a home here because I like it so much. Flights from almost any where are around $1000 USD. You more than make up the difference with the inexpensive lodging etc. Also, you are close to Thailand, Cambodia , (Angkor Wat) Lao, Hong Kong, A ticket to Kuala Lumpur is about $50, Lots to do and plenty to see. Check it out.
You will never regret it if you come to Vietnam. . Great food, amazingly wonderful people. We stopped our bikes at the end of the road by the river the other day. Out in the middle of no where. In minutes we were surrounded by kids saying "hello, Where you from?" the mothers came out a few minutes later and they are bringing out food and laughing. A few minutes later the men came out bringing the rice wine. We had a full on party going and didn't understand much of what was going on. But… we knew that they were really friendly and they treated us like Rock Stars. Just amazing. Don't miss Vietnam. It will be your best trip ever. I promise.

best places to travel?
My family's going on vacation this summer.
Out of these pairs, which one is the best?
What would you recommend?
8 Day Paris & Madrid
8 Day Paris & Rome
8 Day Paris & London
8 Day Rome & Barcelona
10 Day Glimpse of Europe
11 Day Flavour of France & Spain
Hi,
i would choose 10 day glimpse of Europe.
Cities are becoming unfriendly and ripoffs.
If i was to stay somewhere, look at adjoining townships where
the folk are friendlier and not as expensive. Then you can transport it into the city for a taste - then get the hell out!
