I’m a student who’s looking for a long term apartment to rent on the 31st August 2008 in Paris. I’m looking for a contemporary/modern, fully furnished, one bedroom apartment that costs 750 Euros or below PER MONTH.
If anyone has better contacts than agencies, and could probably pass this message on in french to others they may know, please let me know.
This is very urgent. Would be a great help if I could find something before I get to Paris. No vacation rentals please.
Thank you!
Dave:
Yeah actually I thought all decent looking Paris apartments cost about 1000 Euros on average, we're talking one that INCLUDES a bedroom and not a studio furnished type. However, I tried my luck in searching on google.fr in french and came across kijiji, realized there were some apartments with a bedroom that were below 800 Euros but didn't have photos, so that wasn't helpful.
My uni doesn't provide housing and I would rather rent a apartment alone as it costs all the same per person anyway.
The thing is I know for sure that websites that are in english would cost more because we're expats renting, whereas if someone who spoke french and is a local would be able to find much cheaper apartments that look good and decent.
Thanks for your help though!
If you have any other news, you could get back to me on it.
I'm Fiola btw, my address is fiola28@hotmail.com
Katya thanks.
I am aware of the security deposit and all.
Pretty aware of what you have to do for an apartment, that's why I'd rather not go through an agency that deals with expat clients because I know they're all expensive as I've had my fair share of experience.
I've seen some shabby apartments that look awkward and they're all studio, even 1 bedroom apartments can look shabby, I'm just looking for something modern, doesn't have to be big, but comfortable and contemporary for less than the usual market price for the expats.
As all countries, it's always good to find an inside local that knows these prices because they have good connections.
I am a student, I'm going to be studying in the 15th district, don't speak much french though as my courses are in english. Oops.
good luck
You could probably find a nice studio (one room), furnished, outside of the center for 750 with utilities. Watch out, because most people won’t rent anything for less than that.
pap.fr is a good place to look, but most are through agents there (provision)

a good place to look for private apartments is kijiji

You absolutely have to atleast understand some basic french, I would definitely check with the school to see if you can get a place. You might want to look into either a flatshare, or living in the student housing (which is usually nice for foreigners).

Does anyone have a great place they've stayed at near Notre Dame? 4th or 5th district?
links are welcome
The hotel I recommend is Novotel Les Halles. It's reasonably priced and a nice chain. It's located right in the center of Paris and you can walk to most of the sites. For those farther away, the metro is very easy to access.
