Who did you guys use to book your vacations? What was your experience with them? We want to hit London, Paris, and Rome. We have run into hundreds of companies who plan your whole vacation (air, tours, hotel…), and it's hard to pick one. Any help would be great. Thanks so much:-)
We'll most likely leave from San Francisco.
Go by yourself (with friend(s)) and get to know the people directly. Don't use a travel agency that is driving you around on a schedule. You will get the "tourist view" of things and not the real one.
That would be my advice. Doing it that way lets you getting to know the people and culture much better. You are also not bound to a schedule. You can stay longer somewhere if you like it or leave earlier if you don't. Make sure that your tickets (if you fly within Europe) are flexible and allow change.
I would also add Greece to the list, you won't regret it.
P.s. depending how old you are and how long your trip is, does it maybe make sense to get a EuroTicket that allows you to travel within Europe (Train) free or for a discounted rate.

I am not sure if this will help you, but its a good website for getting cheap flights around Europe ( but I see now its expanded to all the world) but as it targets cheaper airlines it does not have all connections possible, but you may find it useful if you want to go solo and you can contact the airlines thru the website as well.
I would personally do my own holiday as I find I get more value and flexibility ( but it does require a LOT of planning, searching and research…so if you don't mind going on a package holiday do it…maybe select a couple and then ask more questions and see if anyone used them and what their opinions were on it.
