Where should I go for New Year’s eve- london, toronto or paris? ?

Posted by admin on December 13th, 2008 and filed under london paris vacation |

I have one week off. Ideally would have loved to go to Sydney, but my vacation is not that long. I don’t mind the cold weather, but if it is rainy and miserable, that won’t be good. My friend and I are early 30s. I have been to paris already, so I guess it’s further down the list. Would like an exciting party and some fun cultural or city things to do for the rest of the week. We are also thinking costa rica? Any other suggestions are welcome as long as the flight is less than 8 or so hours from Houston.
What kind of indoor things can we do on the other days?

Toronto will be miserable and cold. Visit closer to the summer.

I have been to both London and Paris, although no at New Years. I enjoyed London infinitely more. Paris, is found to be very dirty, and very freaky at night-time. Men would expose themselves to my classmates on the subway, and guys selling over-priced souvenirs would literally chase us.

London wasn’t like that at all. It was friendly and beautiful. A truly unique cultural experience.

I did New Years in London. It was kind of crowded and not so fun. Not to mention expensive. I would have said Paris, but if you’ve already been there, maybe not. Costa Rica would be pretty tight! And slightly better weather too! I’m from Ontario originally and I’ll tell you right now, Toronto will be FRIGID!

PARIS, for sure!! You will not regret it especially if cultural is what you are looking for.

I’ve never been to London, so I can’t really say what’s good or not.

As a resident of Toronto I guess I don’t see it as exciting as other people may. There are museums to see, and they have sick parties soo I guess it would be nice as well. During the holidays it’s really pretty at night, everything is lit up :)

Toronto!! I just vacationed there for a week. Downtown Toronto reminds me of Times Square in NYC…except that Toronto is MUCH cleaner and there aren’t any homeless people there. There is a lot of awesome shopping, a really sweet Science Center, and you can go up 125 stories in the Cn Tower… The CN Tower was my fav, because it had a glass bottom elevator, gift shops, food shops, and at night it is so lit up and so pretty. I would DEF. recommend it.

First of all you will be lucky to get flights to any of these destinations so late on. These times book up really fast. Same for the hotels.

I have done New Year in London and Toronto. London I think is more fun, but a lot more expensive. Paris as you will know if you have been before is very expensive too. I'm thinking money is no object with you wanting to go at this time though as flights and hotels at all destinations are premium rate for new years.

All 3 places have a lot to do inside for the rest of your stay. All have great shopping.

In Paris the Louvre is a must see. So many wonderful works of art including the Mona Lisa Venus Di Milo and the worlds largest painting. The Arc De Triomphe is not inside, but a must see. Take a deep breath before climbing all of those stairs to get a wonderful view of Paris from above. World class shopping at premium prices, but some of the smaller stores have son good quality buys.

London also has many museums and art galleries. Also the huge Harrods store and some of the worlds finest shopping.

Toronto has the ROM, the Hockey Hall Of Fame and the Eaton Center. Not as exciting as London and Paris for sure, but it has it's own charm too.

Both London and Paris are more than 8 hours from Houston. London varies 7-8 hours from Toronto (I live just outside of Toronto) Paris ranges from 7-9 hours from Toronto depending on airlines and flight paths. Of course at this time of year weather can cause major delays too. I remember once circling London Heathrow for almost 2 hours one November waiting to land because of a rare bad English snowstorm.

If you want to keep the flight at less than 8 hours the only choice from these 3 you have is Toronto. That's 4-5 hours depending who you fly with.

I would say Toronto. It’s a really spread out place, and not extremley crowded. Although it does have 6,700,000 residents living there, in the greater area probably more. But all the same its cool. The CN Tower too.
