How do I go from Milan to Vicenza?

Posted by admin on October 19th, 2008 and filed under paris budget vacation |

During summer vacation, I will be traveling from Paris to Milan by train, arriving in Milan around 9PM. The problem is I'm supposed to join my friends who will be staying in Vicenza, and I don't know how to travel from Milan to Vicenza, knowing that I'm on a budget, and that I don't have a driver's license. I haven't found any trains that are not super-expensive. Do you think I could take a bus or a taxi? How much would that cost? Can you recommend some websites?

Please please help me! Thanks a lot!

are you traveling alone? if so, hitch a ride. you'll witness a pileup as soon as you stick your thumb out and smile. nothing unusual, it's just how italian men are.

you could also take a bus, or rent a car.

The train is the best way to do this. Vicenza is on the train line between Milan and Venice - about a half hour past Verona. The trains here aren't very expensive. The fast Eurocity trains are only 18.50 2nd class and take a little under 2 hr for the trip. If the Amica fare is available, the same train will cost 14.80 euro. There are a limited number of seats available at this price though.

The cheapest trains are the regional trains. There are a few regional trains that will take you all the way from Milan to Vicenza for 10 euro (approximately 2.5 hr travel time). You'll find additional options on the train website that someone else provided you by looking for a regional train from Milan to Verona and a second train from Verona to Vicenza. The total cost will be 11.40 euro if you do it this way, but there are a lot more trains to choose from.

A taxi will be MUCH more expensive that the train (more than 100 euro). If you think that 10 - 12 euro is super-expensive for this trip, then you need to prepare for sticker shock when you're in Italy.

use train. they have good fast trains all over Italy, and they are not too expensive. you can travel safely and be there in three hours (not sure, but i don't think it would take any longer).
search this site, it can help you plan it.
