best places to travel?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2008 and filed under paris family vacation |

My family's going on vacation this summer.
Out of these pairs, which one is the best?
What would you recommend?

8 Day Paris & Madrid
8 Day Paris & Rome
8 Day Paris & London
8 Day Rome & Barcelona
10 Day Glimpse of Europe
11 Day Flavour of France & Spain

Hi,

i would choose 10 day glimpse of Europe.
Cities are becoming unfriendly and ripoffs.
If i was to stay somewhere, look at adjoining townships where
the folk are friendlier and not as expensive. Then you can transport it into the city for a taste - then get the hell out!

My vote goes to 8 day Paris and London.

10 days glimpse of Europe is impossible, just like 11 day flavour of France and Spain. You need a whole 10 days to visit one of the regions of either Spain or France (Andalusia, Normandie, Cote d'Azure, Costa Brava, etc.).

8 day Paris and London is actually doable without too much hassle, the Eurostar train takes only 2 1/2 hours. It will still be a very rushed trip.

For the combination of Paris-Rome, Barcelona-Rome or Paris-Madrid you would either have to fly between the cities or face 18-36 hours of train travel. Taking transfer time to the airport into account you would spent a full day travelling between the cities each way, taking time away from your sight-seeing. Not very practical.

Therefore you are left with the classic Paris-London as your only sensible option.

However given the chance to spent 10 days anywhere in Europe I would choose to fly in and out of Rome or Milano, visiting Rome, Florence and Venice. 10 days of the essential Italy, the "must sees".

German, have been travelling all over Europe and the Middle East as long as I can remember. First with my parents and later on my own.

I would do 8 Days Rome & Barcelona. Or I would just fly to the country I want to visit, rent a car from the Airport and just drive to wherever you want for 8 days or more. Then return to the Airport and fly back home.
