take at least $1000, b/c when you get it transferred into Euros or pounds, it actually cuts it in half sometimes over half, depending on the rate. i went to england and scotland for 10 days and only brought just over 300 bucks and so i only had about 160pounds to spend, so i'd bring lots more!!!! My boyfriend and I went for a week and ended up spending $1500, but we drank quite a bit. If you don't plan to drink a whole lot and it's just you, I would say you could comfortably get by on about $600-700. References :
last year i spent 10 days in Paris, and, eating cheaply (mc Donald's, Greek food..) but visiting everything, metro card, hostel(5 minute from Notre Dame) and souvenirs i spent 500€…
but every day i saw (and payed) everything ( Louvre, Tour Eiffel, Versailles, the modern part of Paris where there is a tower..) References :

I took a thousand dollars on a week long cruise to the Caribbean you might need to have that much just in case of any emergency.
